3 Things to Talk About with Your Wedding Photographer
Communication between you and your wedding photographer is key! It's your big day, and your photographer is there to help it go smoothly and just like you want. Don't be afraid to tell you photographer exactly what you want. On the other end, of course, wedding photographers have likely shot many weddings and know what times, orders, and locations are best for photos, so be willing to work with them. Today, I'm talking about my three best wedding day subjects to go over with your wedding photographer.
1. The Wedding Timeline. I have a suggested wedding timeline I send to my brides that fits temple and ceremony weddings. It's important you get a timeline from your photographer, because they know the best times of day for photos. Many people know that noon is a bad time to shoot, but photographers calculate timelines off of the projected sunset for that day. For example: If the sun sets at 8:00, starting your ceremony at 6:00 wouldn't give you enough time for family photos, while starting at 2:00 is bad lighting.
2. The First Look. First looks are so popular now-a-days! I'm such a fan. A first look is before the wedding, in your wedding attire, when your groom gets to see you for the first time in your dress! It's a photographers dream because the formals get done before the wedding day, and the photographer can set up the background and shot perfectly. They can also be displayed at your wedding. Pro tip: hire a videographer for your first look as well, so you'll have photos and video!
3. Other Vendors. Photographers and other wedding vendors love to collaborate! I always make sure to tag vendors in my social media and blog so we can help each other's small businesses. It also helps photographers put together recommendation lists for future brides! Your photographer may also have recommendations for you. I give my brides a list of recommendations for venues, cakes, makeup and more.
