Landscaping

Our yard is finished! We landscape the front yard during building, but not the backyard. We'll complete the backyard at a later date.

Back in June, we received a choice of three yard plans to choose from. We were a little disappointed we were the first group to not be able to choose our own landscaping like previous groups, but we got to talk with Neighborhood Housing to help come up with better landscaping plans. Even though I would have rather chosen landscaping myself, I'm good with the plan we chose.

Our landscaping plan emphasizes pine, and is made to look like Logan Canyon. I love that about it! Here is our plan and plant schedule:

First, sub contractors came and added topsoil to our yard and cleared out rocks and weeds. They created a grade away from our house as well. The same day, the sprinkler subs marked out where the grass will go according to our plan and put in sprinklers. We also got grates and ladders for our window wells!

Once sprinklers were in, we had to rake out our yard to get rid of big rocks and finish the grade away from our house. This also made it nice and smooth for grass. Labor Day weekend our first batch of sod arrived and we finished the sod on our garage side and park strips! We also planted our park strip trees and plants according to the plan. It looks so good! The next weekend we finished the sod in our main front yard.

We luckily had a lot of help for landscaping the main yard. There are so many plants in these new plans! It took a lot of hard work to get it all done.

Next, we had to plant our yard plants, install drip irrigation for the plants and add weed cover and gravel. This took a while, but it was cool to see how drip irrigation is put in! Our plants are so pretty. We are still missing our pine trees.

We are so excited landscaping is done! Just a few more touch ups and we move in. Thanks for reading! See more on my Instagram and Pinterest.
