It's here!! We are finally COMPLETELY DONE building! For the past few weeks along with landscaping, we have been finishing the final touches of our house. Now that we are done, we have a few inspections that will happen while we pack up our condo. Our open house will be September 30! Usually the public is invited, there's food and a bouncy house, etc. But this year, it is appointment only for people looking into the house building program who haven't chosen a house plan. We will be able to move in that night once our certificate of occupancy is given to us!
First, subcontractors came out and installed our cabinets. This took a while since they are custom measured. We picked the color Spring Carnival, and it looks awesome! I'm so glad we picked white counter tops with the dark cabinets.
During landscaping, our moms came out and finished painting the exterior doors white. This was a huge help because painting is so time consuming. My dad also stained the front posts.
We also got our lighting in! The lighting company delivered it, and months later the electrician came out and installed them. They look so much cooler in person than they did on the catalog! I love them so much.
Next, we put on doorknobs! Our doorknob style is called Juniper for the interior doors. We went with vintage bronze and it's gorgeous! Our front door knob is called Coral. It was so nerve racking to drill into the metal door to get the front door knob on. We also had doorstops to put on the hinges.
Next, we put up our handrails! We stained them the same color of our posts. Rob stained them, and we put them together! They look great!
We also put up blinds. It was easier than I thought it'd be! I love our blinds because they are push to open instead of pulling a string. You just push up the bottom of the blinds and they stay! We have them in our condo now as well. I also windex-ed all of the windows, which was quite a task since they've been in our house and around sawdust, drywall, etc since winter and have never been cleaned.
Lastly, we installed hardware in the bathrooms and cleaned and polished the floors! The house looks so good. I'm so excited. Our toilet paper holders are so cool! I saw them at an open house a year ago and picked them for our house. They swivel, so no annoying spring!
After everything was done, the subs finally brought out our appliances. I put them together and slid them into place, and the plumbers and electricians hooked them up! Our stove looks really nice, I'm excited to use it. We went with the plain rangehood instead of the microwave/rangehood combo. We want to eventually get a nicer rangehood and maybe knock out the cabinets above it. Plumbers also installed our sinks and toilets!
I will have a few video tours up on my Instagram page on the day of our open house so you can see the whole house. I will also be posting a blog with photos of the rooms. I'm so excited! It's been a long process, but we are finally at the end. Thanks for reading! See more on my Instagram and Pinterest.
