Arches and Canyonlands National Parks | Moab Spring 2021

Our first trip to Moab! We have now officially been to all 5 national parks in Utah!

We love traveling and exploring our beUTAHful state, but we usually stick to our favorite national parks, Bryce Canyon and Capitol Reef. However, in the winter time they are pretty cold due to their high elevation. So we decided to go somewhere we’ve never been: Moab!

At the tail end of February Daylen and I went on a vacation to Moab Utah. In the Moab area there are two national parks, Arches and Canyonlands. We got to go to both!

On our first day in Moab, we arrived early in the morning and went straight to Arches National Park. It was a blast! I had written down some hikes I wanted to go on, and we hit every one. First up, we hiked the Windows Trail. It has two window arches, and one arch at the end. It was so cool to have our first taste of Arches!

Next up we went to a couple viewpoints and then hiked the trail we were most excited for: Delicate Arch! If you live in Utah, you know it as the license plate arch! It was a long 3 mile hike, mostly uphill. I was so excited to be out in the warm weather hiking around again! There is an old pioneer cabin at the front, then you hike up a huge rock until you get to a narrow cliff trail to the arch. It was so breathtaking! We were surprised at how big it is. I took just about a million photos.

We spent the evening exploring the town a bit and drove to see the La Sal Mountains! I got some amazing photos of them. They’re so gorgeous in contrast to the red rock desert on the other side.

The next morning, we woke up early and took a walk along the Colorado River. We were surprised at how peaceful and still it was. Crazy to think that somewhere downstream it’s carving out another one of our favorite places, the Grand Canyon!

We also got to take some self timer photos on the bridge before the sun rose!

Next, we went to Canyonlands National Parks. We happened to arrive a minute after the visitor center opened haha. Our first stop was a beautiful overlook! We took so many photos and videos here. It was the perfect time of day! Daylen was scaring me by getting really close to the edge to get good video. It was very high up!

After that, we hiked to Mesa Arch. This arch has been on my list for a while! It's so gorgeous. It surprised me because it's barely hanging on to the cliff! It was glowing in the morning sunlight. I loved how sandy this trail was!

Our last hike at Canyonlands was the rim trail at the main overlook. It was so pretty! There were no railings, and a steep drop. But it was some of the most gorgeous views I've ever seen. We hiked and talked for over an hour, taking in the views around us.

We spent the evening visiting Hole N The Rock (a house in a rock from the early 1900's), getting some yummy dinner and ice cream at The Spoke and visiting rock shops! Our last morning in Moab we went rockhounding and got some pretty cool finds. Jasper is a common rock to find here, and it’s so pretty with all of its different colors.

We had a blast our first time visiting Moab. We can't wait to go back with our four wheeler! Definitely a new favorite spot.
