Mount Rainier National Park has a lot of amazing hikes, but if you're looking for a quick, easy hike that anyone can enjoy look no further! Myrtle Falls is a perfect hike for a quick trip with lots of gorgeous views. It is a paved to dirt out-and-back 0.7 mile trail that takes about 20 minutes. It is rated moderate on All Trails, but I'd rate it easy if you're used to high elevation. From the falls, you can keep going on the Skyline Trail or head back to the lodge.
The trail starts at the lodge, where there is a gift shop and café. You'll hike through beautiful pine trees, wildflowers, and views of the surrounding Cascade Mountains. I loved all of the wildflowers in August! It climbs up a hill, but it's a very easy hike if you're used to high elevation. If not, you may get a bit winded. The trail can get a bit crowded, but the further you hike, the less people there will be.
Once you reach the falls, there are a few bridges. The first viewing bridge has a great view of Myrtle Falls with Mount Rainier in the background, and is best for photos. You can also walk up a bit past this bridge to stand on top of the main falls. We kept hiking for a bit longer to see more of the mountains, and it did not disappoint!
Myrtle Falls is a great easy trail that can be as long as you'd like it to be, with the addition of the Skyline Trail. If you only have time for one hike at Mount Rainier, this is a great one for some good views, photos, and many different landscapes.
