Orange County CA | Daylen's First Trip to Disneyland

This past weekend, Daylen and I took a trip to California with my mom and her boyfriend Rob. Rob is from California, and we have visited with them before! Rob's family lives in Arcadia, and has a beach house in Huntington Beach, so we are lucky to have places to stay when we go. If you'd like a print of any of the photos featured here or more, click here.

We started out in Huntington Beach on Friday! We arrived at 4:00am, and slept in until 8:30. I was just too excited to go to the beach to sleep! Our trip started off at a lookout above Laguna Beach. Sandy beaches are great, but I love seeing the beautiful rocks in the ocean, and watching the waves hit them. It was such a pretty place.

Next, we saw Mission Capistrano! I have always wanted to visit a mission, but even living in Arizona I hadn't. The actual old mission was too far back in to get photos, but I got a quick look and it was so cool to see something so old. I did get some great shots of the newer church, which I loved.

Then, we finally got to the beach. We went to Thousand Steps Beach, South Laguna. It's Rob and my mom's favorite beach, and Daylen and I were so excited to see it! We walked down about 300 steps to the beach, and explored the shore and caves around it. Daylen and I even got a peek at a tide pool that had two crabs and an anemone in it! It was a nice, relaxing afternoon and we had a lot of fun.

Lastly, because we were trying to fit in as much as we possibly could in three days, we went to the OC Fair. It's basically a huge fair that never leaves. There were games, rides, food trucks, animals, demolition derbies, and more. It was hard to take it all in!

After a good nights sleep (finally), Disney Day was next! Daylen had never been to Disney, and I had once when I was 12. It had been a while. Rob's son works at California Adventure, so we were lucky enough to get into both parks for free thanks to him.

We started off in California Adventure. After exploring a little, we saw Cars Land first. It instantly became our favorite! I hadn't seen it, because it was just being built the first time I visited. It was by far the most realistic 'land' to us. I got some rose gold Minnie Mouse ears there, which shouldn't be a surprise if you know me at all. Next, we went to the pier to ride Toy Story Midway Mania. I knew that Daylen would love this ride, and I was right. It's a mix between a game and a ride, what's better? If you love this ride comment below.

Later, we went over to Disneyland and rode Indiana Jones Adventure, and a few other things. Daylen was surprised how different every 'land' is in Disneyland, and how it wasn't just a castle and princesses. We even walked past a couple groups of storm-troopers. One of our favorite rides was the Rapids in California Adventure at night! Cars Land at night was amazing as well.

On Sunday, we relaxed at a family member's house in Arcadia, and swam in their pool. The last time we actually swam in a pool I think was one of our first dates in high school! In Utah, we swim in lakes. We had such a fun trip, and I'm so grateful we got to go, and I could take so many photos.
