Bryce Canyon First Anniversary Trip

I want to start by saying thank you so much for all of your kind messages wishing us a happy anniversary! It was so appreciated. We had a great first anniversary and a great first year! This year we started and are close to finishing building our home, got a puppy, celebrated 6 (now almost 7) years of being together, and took some really fun trips.

We decided to celebrate our anniversary by taking a trip to Bryce Canyon, one of our favorite places ever, and the spot we got engaged at 2 years ago! We usually go in March because it's less crowded, but it was fun to go in May when it's warm.

We stayed at Ruby's Inn the first night. It's our favorite place to stay in Bryce because it's so fun! I love seeing the gift shop, the lake, and the restaurant. We spent the rest of the day four wheeling around the area, and went into the park in the afternoon. While we were there admission was free! We made a plan to come back to the park the next morning at sunrise to take some sunrise photos of the park.

We also visited the bench we got engaged at, and it was so fun reliving those memories.

The next morning we camped and woke up extra early to go to the park and take some photos. We hiked part of the Queens Garden Trail from Sunrise point and it was beautiful! The park is so different at sunrise. We had a blast on our hike and took lots of photos. The rocks were glowing!

We went four wheeling again during the day, and hung around camp in the evening. We also went on a date to Bryce Canyon Pines restaurant, our favorite in the area. Bryce Canyon Pines has the best burgers! Later, we watched a movie by the fire and waited for midnight.

At midnight, the clouds cleared and we drove back into the park. I'd never been to Bryce at night before, and it's pretty popular among photographers. There's even a stargazing event in the summer. Bryce is where the most stars can be seen at night in the west due to it's isolation from the city lights.

It was so spooky when we got there! No one was there!! We used a headlamp to get up to the outlook, and all we could hear was the wind rushing through the rocks. When I got my camera setup we turned off the headlamp and it was pitch black except for the stars! I got some great photos with a long exposure.

On our last day we woke up early again and took a small hike before it got too windy. It was such a fun trip, and I can't wait to go again soon!
