This May we headed back down to Bryce Canyon National Park in southern Utah for our 3rd annual anniversary trip! We've gone to Bryce every year since 2017 together, but once we got married we decided to go in May for our anniversary. It's been so fun to have a tradition! This time we brought along Dylan and Sami for the adventure.
We camped and fished the first bit of the trip, on the way down to Bryce. It was super fun to get out on the little fishing boat and catch some fish! We all caught at least one, and the boys caught a bunch of tiger, rainbow and cutthroat trout. It was fun to have campfires back at camp and look at the stars. We even cooked one of our fish!
Our first day heading into Bryce Canyon we stopped at Red Canyon for some photos. I always want to get good photos of us down there but we never do! It was awesome to finally get a couple. We ate at Bryce Canyon Pines for our one big meal of the trip, and it was super yummy as usual. We finished out the night roller skating in Red Canyon!
Our first hike was the Navajo Loop trail in the main Bryce Canyon starting at Sunset Point. Sami had never been to Bryce before so I figured we should start with a classic! It's a relatively easy 1.3 mile loop that is only hard at the end when you hike back up out of the canyon. It was so pretty! We saw Wall Street with the huge trees growing out of the rocks, Thor's Hammer hoodoo, and a bunch of other pretty sights. We all got a "I hiked the hoodoos" sticker for our hikes!
Next, we hiked the Mossy Cave trail! Daylen and I had never been on this trail before. It's kind of a ways out of the park, but only a 5 minute drive from Bryce Canyon City. You don't go into the main entrance of Bryce, so you can get to this hike without paying the park admission fee. It's the only place in Bryce Canyon with water! You hike up to a small water fall, and then over to a mossy cave that is always dripping with water or ice. It was super cool!
We decided to spend a night at Ruby's Inn on our last night instead of camping. It was so fun! We love Ruby's. It was super nice to shower and swim in the pool. We also looked through the gift shop there and got a few things, including matching Bryce Canyon shirts for Sami and I, and a pinecone bangle bracelet Daylen got for me. Swimming in the pool was definitely a highlight, we had so much fun.
Our last morning, we got up early to watch the sunrise in Bryce since we missed the sunset. Unfortunately, it was super cloudy. But it was cool to see the park empty and quiet! We had a fun trip, and I can't wait to go again next year. Click here for my complete guide to Bryce Canyon.
