At the beginning of August, we took a backpacking trip with our friends the Womacks. Daylen had gone up to White Pine Lake the weekend before with his brother on a scout trip and really wanted to show me the lake! I was so excited!
We hiked up Friday evening and got there just before dark. It's a four mile backpack in to the camping spots by the lake. It's a hard hike with a backpack, but not as long as I thought it was going to be. It was really fun! There was a point where we came up over the main hill towards the end of the hike, and got to see an overlook of the whole valley and mountains. It was beautiful!
We camped with the Womacks by the lake. My favorite part of the whole trip was hearing how quiet it gets at night. No nearby roads, not very many people, just the sound of wind blowing through the valley. It was so cool.
The next morning we got up, filtered some more water from the spring for the hike back, and went fishing. Daylen caught a little trout from White Pine Lake and I got to take lots of photos with my camera!
We headed out that morning a little earlier than planned because of a storm coming in. The thunder sounded really cool from inside the bowl of mountains. The hike out was a little harder at first because of the huge climb up the mountain, but it wasn't as bad as I expected. It's so cool to be hiking so far away from roads!
We backpacked four miles back out and ended up back at Tony Grove Lake. It was a really fun trip that I hope we get to do lots more!
