Things to do Around Moab without an ATV

Moab is definitely an ATV paradise, but it's also super fun without one! Lots of people think it's pointless to go to Moab without an ATV. We have a four wheeler and dirt bike, but we like to head down to Moab without them in the off season and do hikes and other exploring. There is so much to do there without an ATV! From the two national parks to scenic drives, to super fun attractions, I've collected my 10 favorite things to do in Moab without an ATV.

Hikes in Arches National Park! We love to hike around Arches. My favorite trails are the Delicate Arch Trail, Windows Arches Trail, Double Arch, and Fiery Furnace. You can easily spend a day or two in Arches on hikes! If you don't like to hike, there are plenty of scenic drives, overlooks, and roadside rock formations to see as well. Hole In The Rock! Such a cool attraction. It's a house that was built into a rock in the early 20th century, that's 5000 square feet! You can tour the house, visit a zoo, see the gift shop, and look at all the eclectic things they have at Hole in the Rock. Great for kids!

Hikes in Canyonlands National Park! While Canyonlands has a ton of ATV trails, it also has a lot of cool hikes! It's a less visited park, and some of the hikes are lesser known. My favorites are Mesa Arch Trail, Aztec Butte Trail, Shafer Trail Overlook, and Grand View Point. Such gorgeous views! Aztec Butte has Native American ruins as well!

Moab Giants Museum! The coolest museum in Moab. Moab Giants is a huge dinosaur museum complete with an ancient aquarium, outdoor dinosaur path, 3D movie theater, café, gift shop, and more. Great for a day indoors after a long time in the sun!

Visit Castle Valley! Castle Valley is a cute little town 20 miles from Moab. You'll drive along the Colorado River in the prettiest canyon to get there, and then be amazed by the gorgeous Castle Tower! It's a very tiny town that's relaxing and less busy than Moab. You can also drive the La Sal Mountain Loop from there!

Walk Around Town! Moab is the cutest town. After a day in the sun, I love spending evenings walking around the town to visit shops, eat at restaurants, and enjoy the atmosphere of Moab. My favorite places downtown are the Moab Rock Shop, Simply Moab, Pasta Jay's, The Spoke, and Moab Gear Traders. I love getting a hotel downtown so we can walk everywhere!

Rockhounding! This has quickly become one of Daylen and I's favorite hobbies. We love finding cool rocks! Find some public land around Moab that allows taking rocks and search for Jasper, Opal, Petrified Wood, Dinosaur Poop, Quartz, Agate, and more. There are lots of resources online for more information about local rocks.

Hike to Corona Arch! If you head down Potash Road you'll find another side of Moab that most people miss. There are areas to fish, rock climb, and hike. Corona Arch is on a trailhead on Potash Road, and is a moderate hike up to the arch! There are also dinosaur tracks nearby.

Fish the Colorado and Green Rivers! Two of the most beautiful rivers in the US. There are lots of places to fish, including the canyon that leads to Castle Valley! Grab a fishing license, rod and reel, and enjoy the day in the water!

Get Professional Photos Taken! This is a no brainer in Moab. Where else could you get such a variety of red rock photos?! It's such a fun time to get dressed up and get some family, couple, or wedding photos in a gorgeous place like Moab. At Abigail Erin Photography, we visit often and know the best places for photos.
