This March, I was invited to an event hosted by Chatbooks at the Wick Lab! The Wick Lab is a cute place in Draper where you blend scents and make your own candle. The event was called Smells Like A Memory, and the idea was we would bring in a photo and create a candle based off of our photo. I invited my mom and we headed down to Draper! We even saw a Chatbooks billboard on the way.
The first thing we did was notice how beautiful the Wick Lab is! It's so modern and clean. We loved the look! We grabbed clip boards and headed to the scent wall to write down our favorite scents. We each wrote down quite a few! There are mostly floral and outdoor scents. We gravitated towards warmer ones. Then, we chose our candle containers! I almost chose a super cute rose gold tin, but ultimately decided on a white glass container.
After making our candle choices, we headed over to the bar and sat at our stations. We started putting some of the scents together to decide what combinations we wanted. I chose Pumpkin Spice and Salted Caramel. Mom chose Cinnamon Stick and Brown Sugar. We mixed the combination of them that we liked in a tiny cup, and added it to the pot of melted wax.
We stirred the mixture for a couple minutes then poured it into our candle containers. So easy! For some reason I thought it'd be more complicated, but it's not. We both chose to add a lid, and I chose to add some white glitter in my candle. It was super cool. They take about 4-5 hours to fully cure so we got them later and loved the final product.
Mine was based off of our fall family photos this past year! I made a combination of fall scents that reminded me of that photo, and named my candle "Fall with the Reaves'" to commemorate it.
I had such a great time at the Wick Lab. It was so great of Chatbooks to put on this event for ambassadors! I'm so glad my mom and I got to go together and make some super cute candles. I'll definitely go back!
