We went back! My mom and I went to the Gem Studio in SLC last spring, and this year we decided to go back and do it again because we loved it so much! Their Salt Lake City location is in City Creek Center, the most beautiful outdoor mall I've been to. It's so fun!
We started out at the gem station picking any gems we thought we would like to use. There were so many! I ended up picking an oval larimar and and oval rhodochrosite. Mom picked a smaller larimar. There are so many choices, and they are different every time we go!
After picking them, we brought them back to our stations and started getting our silver reads to fit the gems. We both chose all plain bezels this time, and I picked a rope detail to go on my pink ring. We soldered the bezels to the back silver plates.
Then, we started shaping our bands to our size. We both picked the slim plain bands this time, and I love them! Last time I got a thick split band, which I also love, but the slimmer ones are so easy to wear. We soldered those on as well.
While our rings were soaking in an acid bath, we walked across City Creek to Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and got some treats! We love their chocolate. I even got a giant white chocolate peanut butter cup to take to Daylen.
When we got back, our rings were ready for polishing. I made sure to really get in there and polish them good this time since last time I could have polished my ring a little more. It's so cool to watch them get instantly shiny! We both dropped our rings once due to the polisher kicking them. But we retrieved them by moving the machine.
Once they were polished, we placed the stones and burnished the sides of the bezel to hold them in. They are so gorgeous! I absolutely love our rings. Can't wait to go back!
