Christmas Tree Cutting 2021

We have our Christmas tree! Every year, we head up in to the mountains with family to cut down our Christmas tree. There are many national forests in Utah, and all of them allow you to purchase a tree cutting permit online. Some of them even sell out of permits! We got our permits all the way back in the beginning of November and have been anxiously awaiting the day we got to choose our tree.

We headed up in the mountains with the whole fam one Saturday. It was surprisingly warmer than we thought it'd be, and there was a lot less snow that we expected as well. There was a ton last year! I love hiking around looking for the perfect tree. We needed one that was less than 9 feet and very full to fit well in our house.

Daylen is very into Christmas and always wants to pick the absolute perfect tree, so he usually goes pretty far into the forest to find a great one. This year was no different! Our tree is so perfect! We ended up getting it from the same hillside as our tree last year. After we hiked around for a while haha.

After we all got our trees, we had some hot chocolate, snacks, and did some sledding. There was only one hill with enough snow this year! It was a blast. The kids built a jump to go down, which was super cool. Daylen and I got this sled last year for Christmas Tree cutting and I'm so glad we did. It's one of the best parts for sure!

We got home and decorated our tree and it's so gorgeous! We ended up having to buy more lights for it than what we had for our previous trees. I think it's just more full. And, of course, I made our 2021 tree ornament which I do with every live tree we get since 2016! Can't wait to do this again next year! Time to put some presents under it...

Merry Christmas! Thanks for reading. See more on my Instagram and Pinterest.
